Villaines is close to the eastern border of Mayenne. It's a subdivision, bordering the department of Sarthe, and very near to the border of l'Orne. It is in the centre of a triangle made up in the North-East by Pre en Pail, in the West by Mayenne and in the South-east by Sille-le-Guillaume in la Sarthe. Each one of these towns of importance, on the scale of Mayenne, is separated by 16 to 28 kilometres from Villaines-la-Juhel. The commune is far away from the great national highways and motorways but the secondary roads radiate from there throughout Villaine. It is a stunning, beautiful area. Lots of places to visit with a historical background. Swimming pool, tennis courts, bike park, local market and Patisseries in town with a supermarket that stocks all needs.
Steve and I decided in 2017 to sell our house in England and take the bold choice of going travelling around Europe. We then came to France in 2018 and found this beautiful Fermette, fell in love and decided to buy it. It was converted from a barn to this lovely style around 14 years ago. It has just under 4 acres of land with a lake.
We are happy to share our special getaway with you and truly hope you get to enjoy it as much as we do. The views of the scenery in the morning are spectacular, and there are some fantastic walks and bike routes in the neighbourhood. It also has lovely restaurants and bars in, and around, the area. Normandy beaches are approx 1.5 hr drive but well worth the visit. We are also only 1 hr from La Mans for that Motor experience.
